Rockford Health system is actively seeking a second pediatric surgeon. Less than an hour from Chicago, Madison and Milwaukee, Rockford ! Health System’s Children’s Medical Center is part of a larger tertiary system serving more than 800,000 people. The Children’s Medical Center, is composed of four elements: a 23-bed general pediatric service staffed 24/7 with 6-Pediatric Hospitalists; a 7-bed PICU with 3-Pediatric Intensivists; a 46-bed Level III NICU covered by 7-Neonatologists and 7-midlevels; and pediatric specialist support in gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, pulmonary, genetics, developmental peds and anesthesiology.
The pediatric surgical service performs cases varying from general to complex including TEF repairs, abdominal wall defects, inflammatory bowel disease, and short bowel syndrome among various others. In support of this service there are two fully trained pediatric anesthesiologists and outstanding surgery staff.
The University of Illinois Medical School, Rockford campus hosts 50 students per year starting in their second year. RHS is a teachin! g hospital for these students. Faculty appointment is commensu! rate with clinical and research experience.
