The American Society of Anesthesiologists is currently hiring a Professio! nal Development Manager for our Park Ridge, IL location. Due to growth, we are relocating to Schaumburg, IL in May, 2014.
The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) was founded in 1905 as an educational, research and scientific association organized to raise and maintain the standards of anesthesiology and improve patient care. Today we have over 50,000 members dedicated to our mission of improving patient care and patient safety.
Position Summary:
Collaborate with members and subject matter experts (SME) to design, develop, and implement high quality programs and products based on specific needs. Ensure compliance with applicable continuing medical education accreditation guidelines. Work within a team to promote continuous growth of ASA education offerings for physicians to enhance their professional expertise. Coordinate activities with ASA departments to promote, sell and deliver programs/products.
Position Responsibilities:!
Analyze the educational and practice needs of anesthe! siologists related to the delivery of care within their specialty and subspecialties and assist in planning educational strategy.
Under the supervision of the Director, independently plan, develop, implement and evaluate continuing medical education activities as assigned in compliance with AMA, ABA, ABMS and ACCME standards and guidelines.
Collaborate with a variety of subject matter experts (SME) with ASA leadership and staff, volunteer members and other experts to create and deliver a diverse mix of educational programs in live and enduring formats, using a variety of multi-media.
Conceptualize and recommend new programs based on market research, communication with ASA's leadership, membership and staff, and by repurposing content to obtain additional value.
Maintain updated knowledge to ensure programs reflect trends and best practices in adult learning, educational technology and physician training and continuing medical education.
Manage expenses in-line with budget and assist in budget development.
Serve as liaison to other departments regarding education initiatives and CME requirements.
Supervise employee or contract staff to deliver programs/products on time and within budget that meet technical and quality standards.
Develop and update policies, procedures, and forms to guide the development, delivery and documentation of continuing education activities that improve program and department operations.
Analyze and review state-of-the art technologies to determine relevance for improved delivery of current programs or for new Education programs/products.
Provide training and information to ASA staff about new programs and products to assist in their understanding and representation to members/customers.
Employ continuous quality improvement methods and provide troubleshooting strategies to maximize the quality of educational product and ! services delivery.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree,! Master's preferred.
Minimum 5 years' experience developing and delivering continuing medical education and clinical training programs in a professional association environment.
Minimum 7 years' experience designing live and enduring materials, including broad range of web-based, digital and recorded technologies.
Previous supervisory experience required.
