DUTIES:
The VA Medical Center, Marion, IL is seeking a full-time, Board Eligible or Certified in Anesthesiology. The physician will be responsible for direct provision of peri-operative anesthetic care to patients, including preoperative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic, administration, and monitoring, and post-anesthesia care, in compliance with national accreditation standards. The incumbent ensures the most effective delivery of Anesthesiology services while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. Performs the administrative components of patient care management such as dictation of progress notes, OP reports, and discharge summaries. Participates in quality improvement activities. Participates in ward/ICU rounds, and any other relevant activities. Fosters a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.

Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday 0800 -1630, Some night, weekend and holiday call may be required .

Physician Pay is comprised of three components: Base Pay, Market Pay and Performance Pay.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Physicians must meet the basic appointment requirements stated in the VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G2, as follows: A degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine is required. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a state, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e.g, Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure. First year Residency (Internship) Licensure and Registration: Current and full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Applicant should be actively Board Certified in Internal Medicine/Family Practice through ABIM or ABFP, respectively. Preference will be given to those with additional certification in Geriatric Medicine through ABIM/ABFP as well as in Hospice & Palliative Medicine through ABMS. Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Applicants must not be listed on the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Inspector General Sanctions database. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must certify at the time of appointment that they have registered with the Selective Service system or are exempt for having to do so under Selective Service law. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
