QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelors Degree in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing Administration or Business Administration; Management experience; 7-10 years in progressive management roles including management of large capital and operational budgets; demonstrated experience in managing relationships with surgeons and physicians, anesthesiologists, and senior management. Previous OR experience; Desired, Certification in area of specialty.
The Director shall be and remain a member in good standing of ! the NMH. The Director shall be qualified by training; experien! ce, interest and demonstrated current ability, and shall be willing and able to discharge the administrative qualifications of his/her office. He/She should have proven ability as manager and leader. Desired: The Director should possess administrative, interpersonal, and management skills, excellent clinical judgment and quality assessment skills and a working knowledge of trends in hospital management and economics. Demonstrates ability to interact with individuals of multiple disciplines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsibility over 54 ORs and 200 FTES. Management of all Surgical Services staff. Conduit to hospital nursing operations to ensure adherence to operations standards. Executes nursing professional practice model and professional development to achieve Magnet accreditation.Collaboratively structures block time schedule to best accommodate workload, surgical prioritization and efficiency.Work with Preoperative Team, NMG, Private Faculty, NLFH and NMH h! ospital leadership to plan strategically for future needs, both short and long term, and throughput of Surgical Services for all phases of care (pre-op, intra-op, post-op).Define performance standards, goals and initiatives to continually monitor and improve Surgical Services Operations.Acts as team member with Director of Anesthesia and Director of Surgical Services - meeting weekly to discuss plans and remediation related to operations.Develop OR Budget, Capital Equipment Planning List, and expansion planning with Perioperative Team for Executive Leadership Approval.Responsible for achieve budget targets to support exceptional financial performance. Ensure departmental compliance with accreditation, licensure and other regulatory standards including IDPH, Joint Commission and CMS.Establishes and executes Establish annual and long-term program or service goals, strategies and plans (including business plans) consistent with hospital goals and strategies.Develop and maintai! n strong working relationships with clinical leadership as appropriate ! and senior management to ensure close coordination of medical staff and administrative goals, plans, and strategies.Acts as a good citizen of the organization as exemplified by integrity and ethics in personal behavior and willingness to participate in task forces, special events (e.g. United Way), and/or external community commitments.Additional Functions, Work with the Triad to manage and assure Anesthesia Technician and Technologist staffing, education, and assigned duties are appropriate.Work with Anesthesiology Medical Directors to assure smooth implementation of new operations and quality programs.Work with ACMO for Pharmacy and Therapeutics to manage addition of and education concerning new drug additions to the formulary, and to manage drug shortages.Work with Anesthesiology Equipment Coordinator to manage the evaluation of new equipment, manage the addition of and education concerning new equipment, and manage the replacement of aging equipment.Serves to support Nu! rsings Shared Leadership Structure as an active leader on the Chief Nurse Committee. Develops and implements, in collaboration with the CNE and other Director of Nursing, Nursings Strategic Plan.Strive for personal excellence and advanced professional growth in skills and knowledge required for effectiveness in current position; set and carry out personal development objectives as part of annual objective setting process which are appropriate for position and personal development objectives, e.g.: Leadership roles in relevant professional groups. Publication in professional publications. Participation in relevant association meetings. Continuing education as participant, presenter, and/or planner.
