The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) was founded in 1905 as an educational, research and scientific association organized to raise and maintain the standards of anesthesiology and improve patient care.
ASA is currently expanding our Research and Scientific division. We are seeking a Senior Health Policy Researcher to serve as a key member of the Health Policy Research Team. This new position will be based out of our Schaumburg, IL locations.!
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Direct! or of Health Policy Research, this individual will:
Support ASA’s Health Policy Research initiatives through identification, acquisition, and analysis of relevant data and information.
Serve as a resource for ASA members regarding Health Policy Research by staying abreast of relevant regulations, issues, and trends in health care delivery and anesthesiology.
Conduct health services research using appropriate research and statistical methods to study key areas of interests to ASA. Research will include studies that are conducted to academic standards and submitted for publication in relevant peer-reviewed health care journals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintains up-to-date, comprehensive knowledge of key policy issues facing anesthesiologists and other providers of anesthesia services.
Uses appropriate software to support Health Policy Research initiatives, including data analysis packages (SAS and/or Stata), geographic information syste! ms, and reference management systems.
Triages requests and questions from ASA members and provides excellent customer service with timely, accurate, and courteous responses to all ASA members, ASA Advocacy Division staff, and other key stakeholders.
Conducts research on topics and policy issues related to anesthesiology, practice models, and quality and outcomes of medical services.
Develops relationships with other health services researchers interested in perioperative services.
Seeks opportunities for outside research funding and submits proposals, as appropriate.
Writes Policy Briefs, NEWSLETTER articles, reports and other communication content relative to Health Policy Research.
